Constructed in the 16th century, Shree Damodar Temple is dedicated to Lord Damodar, an incarnation of Lord Shiva. The temple’s origins trace back to a time when it was relocated from its original site in Margao to escape the destruction during the Portuguese Inquisition. This relocation symbolizes the enduring faith of the Gowda Saraswath Brahmin community, who have revered this site for centuries. The temple features intricate carvings and inscriptions from the Bhagavad Gita, which reflect its deep-rooted religious significance and artistic heritage.

The temple features typical Goan architecture, including beautiful pillars and a tranquil ambiance. Visitors are often fascinated by the beautiful carvings on the walls, which depict incidents from Hindu mythology, including the Mahabharata. These creative components enhance the temple’s aesthetic appeal and serve as a visual narrative of the region’s spiritual past.
